I suspect part of the problem there, is that people expect that if it runs windows, it can run any windows app So they protect themselves, by just refusing to work entirely, claiming your cpu doesnt support it!īut linux doesnt care, and it just shows up as a plain nvme drive The reason, is that if your cpu isnt fast enough, the caching layer will harm system performance, and then youll claim the optane module is to blame, and the hw gets bad PR The intel optane modules, are extremely fast nvme drivesīut the windows drivers to make them operate as a cache, are locked to certain intel cpu's Ive seen similar brand name protection before in other software/hw packages The slow speed will give them the false impression that the rpi itself is slowĪnd the fact that it can run any 32bit x86 app, will make them think it can magically run any x86 game Yep, and that will just add to the confusion and also ruin rpi's name But, to be fair, and I have to point this out or else someone else will, current versions of Windows-on-non-x86 contain, as a feature, an emulation layer so that they CAN (albeit very slowly) run x86 apps.
